I got no dog in this fight and I'm not on Facebook so I have no preconceived notions based on Facebook banter.
But what irks me about these kinds of battles is multifold. The only people that are sure to win are lawyers. Claiming trademark on one common word simply because you add "ology" to it? Come on that's ridiculous! It only invites patent/trademark troll lawyers. It's really out of control.
Skiology ski shop is using a url that was registered in 2014 as "skiologyskiandsports.com" not just "skiology" while "skiology.com" was registered in 2002?????
Anyway both could be on tenuous ground since skiology chalets were around longest.
These kinds of suits are risky and infuriate the outdoor community. Just look at the blowback when backcountry.com started legal action against any company with backcountry in its name. It cost the CEO his job, a boycott and sales took a beating.
