Skiing's Future

I think the US birth rate is at 1.7.

Also by waiting so long to have kids I kind of skipped a generation?

I looked it up, it's 1.64. I think "break even" is 2.1 or something slightly above 2.

I don't know what the right number is.

I do know that Italy is one of the lowest, like 1.2 or so. It's sited as a problem for their economy.

Can there be prosperity without growth? I sure hope so. Seems key.

The economy is probably the biggest problem for our environment.

It's done every "successful" human civilization in since the beginning of our time.

I have no hope for us fixing anything. The Earth will fix itself just fine. All of us will be gone before ya know it and whatever happens happens. Sorry kids but I didn't want any part of the nonsense either.

In the grand scheme of the universe we ain't shit. A fart or minor burp on the timeline so I'm going with trying to enjoy the time I've got left.

^^That's a case where the change required was simple, in that it didn't require a change in the way people lived. Technology came up with a solution, and it didn't cost the end user much at all. The non-CFC propellants were not any more expensive then the flouro-carbons. Win/win.

I generally feel like humans adapt. And they will this time too. IMO you are going to start to see the costs, in ways that can't be ignored, and that will drive change.

I'm not confident that change will happen quickly enough to preserve 15 million skier visits in the northeast. I guess we will see.

I was pretty psyched to see something positive in our news regarding the environment. All the doom and gloom noise gets old.
