ORDA's Biggest Mistakes

ORDA does, but other places that run their own F&B. I was using Platty as an example.

And whoever ORDER is leasing it must be making money or they wouldn't be doing it.

Of course they do. All I'm saying is it's no headache for the mountain and guaranteed money to lease it out.

Prison food is better than you think
Prison food is more nutritious and plentiful than you might think, but it is not in anyway good. I do not believe the current "quick chill" program at Mohawk could produce anything that would be serviceable even by the relatively low standards of ski cafeteria food. DOCCS does have a delicious crumb cake though.

I'm adding another one: Failure to return to normal after pandemic.

I'm only speaking for Gore today, but they still only have about half the tables in the lodges that they used to. I couldn't find a seat at 11 in the saddle lodge and had to stand and eat. Whenever someone left, everyone would rush to grab their chair. It was a shit show and game of musical chairs that no one wanted.

They also still can't seem to fill seats on the lifts. Only the gondola and Adirondack Express even have singles lines. It takes almost no effort to have them at every lift so the chairs can at least be somewhat full, but they wouldn't even do that.

Whether they're just being lazy, or think there is some value in pandering to a fringe minority that is still stuck in 2020, it's detrimental to the experience of the majority of their customers who want shorter lift lines and a place to sit for lunch.

You seem very angry.... And privileged.

If wanting a place to sit for lunch, and for the lifts to be as efficient as possible is "privileged", then so be it. It's basic stuff that any ski area should be doing, yet ORDA misses the mark.
