ORDA's Biggest Mistakes

At large ski areas like Gore, if you want to ski every trail and repeat the best ones, then you will need to ski the entire day. That's how I've always done it, and I have no plans to change that.

Talk to me when you're 65. Nice post about the Slides, BTW.

ORDA's recent big fail: poor grooming at Mount van Hoevenberg. 12" - 15" of new snow over 36 hours. I can understand that Tuesday 14 March, you might have been overwhelmed. But on Wednesday, stuff needs to get groomed. It appears that Porter Mountain was rolled by one of those Kubota tracked vehicles, not a Pisten Bully. Quite narrow, no classic track, none of the intersections were groomed. Come on guys, why do you have two Pisten Bullys? (I didn't see the hybrid the last few days, that would have made three.)

Might’ve put em on a trailer to help out WF? Mechanical problems? Who knows?

All I know is, Prospect Mt, Woodford Vt, got 30 inches of snow in this storm. 2 - 2.5 times as much as the Ho. They needed a bucket loader to clear the parking. Then they got to grooming. It's a 3-person operation, one of them being the short order cook. Way more people working at van Ho. Not acceptable.

ORDA’s board and governance committee meets next Friday. It’ll be live on the Utube.

Nope. BRQ closes last to let everyone sort themselves out to their right spot. If you don’t like it don’t ski there.

Hey all - new member here. I'm planning my first trip to Gore this Saturday, was considering parking at the Ski Bowl and hoping someone can clarify for me bc this discussion has me a little confused. From the map it looks like you can get down to Ski Bowl parking at end of day via the interconnect from Burnt Ridge or Pipeline Traverse from higher up. Is that not allowed? I have been places where you might have to duck a rope to get back to secondary parking by a closed lift at end of day, but if it was on gentle terrain no one seemed to mind.
