like widening the North side trails and eliminating all the trees from Wood Lot. (Is it still a wood lot if it has no trees?)

I think the current trail width give the north and wood lot a lot of character. It does help make gore a bit unique and turning it into a big wide boulevard will hurt the overall vibe without improving anything.

Wow. It seems like they are trying to straighten and widen almost every trail. Okemo 2.0

Leave the North side alone at least! How are the trails going to hold snow there if they widen them all into abominations. It will all melt and blow away in the exposure, and they will have to make even more which they won't do. Case in point Lookout Mountain at Whiteface and existing Little Gore. And NYS claims to be serious about minimizing developmental impact and preserving the character of the Adirondacks...

I guess that plan has been around since 2018 but disappointing is an understatement. Why don't they just lumber the whole mountain for a pure "ski bowl" while they're at it.

A lot of the plan has been around almost 2 decades.
See the 2005 UMP.
It was “finally" approved in 2005.
How about since 1987o_O
"WHEREAS, ORDA prepared a unit management plan for the Gore Mountain Intensive Use Area in 1987 that was updated in 1995 and 2002 (2002 Plan), and amended in 2005; and WHEREAS ORDA has prepared a second amendment to the 2002 Plan , dated May 2018 (Proposed Final 2018 Amendment), and"

When you are a quasi governmental entity, otherwise known as an "Authority" in NYS, it is basically a license to do whatever they want with very little, if any, oversight; and that is why Robert Moses created the "Authority". Read the Power Broker written by Robert Caro, and you will understand why.

You never hear about a trail being narrowed.

There are almost 600 Authorities in NYS and they are responsible for 90% of NYS borrowing. This gets around legislative borrowing limits that are found in the NYS Constitution. The Authorities also are not subject to many state and local regulations besides the borrowing. The board of directors who govern all these authorities are all political appointees.

There are huge problems with this system.
