Magic Conditions

From tonight’s update:

“Black Line Quad passed its load test on Tuesday. And Saturday it passed State Inspection. Scheduled to open to passholders first on Monday!”

Crossing my fingers for Magic - hope they get on a good winning streak here.
Me too, but I'm happy not to be a pass-holder guinea pig tomorrow. That lift is haunted.

I'm also very curious to see their load management plan now with 2 summit lifts. What makes Magic great is unconjested trails. If they crowd the trails Magic will lose a lot of luster.

It is all relative. As someone who started skiing Magic in 2001 (shortly after their original reopening from closed status), Magic always feels busy to me nowadays, lol.

Untracked snow used to last multiple days, now it is mostly tracked out by noon (even with just the double running). There just aren't that many acres, even with all the additional thinning that has been done.

But the place really needs the uphill capacity... it has some of the longest lines in New England on a powder day (even with ticket and parking limits). Longer waits than MRG.

All that said, I don't think both lifts running at capacity will make the trails feel too crowded. There is plenty of elbow room, it just means the untracked snow will get tracked out faster. The lines get so long on a powder day, I would be fine getting a little less untracked but getting faster laps.

I agree. Those two lifts together should be perfect for Magic. It has the acreage to justify them

"Black Line Quad’s punch list is complete and now getting some much needed non-passenger runtime at full-speed today and tomorrow morning."

It looks like it's been running all day today.

I guess being a bit gun shy is understandable.
