Killington Conditions

Killington has been stagnant due to its lack of slopeside beds. Since it is a for profit ski area, it is in Killington's interest to find a way to increase its revenue/profit numbers and adding the village will be do this for Killington. Fixing the water supply will also be a positive for the whole Killington area.
Where do people stay who want to spend a summer vacation week at/near Killington? Pulling in revenue during the "green" season as well as during fall colors helps the overall bottom line for true 4-season resorts.

I feel the same way.

It could potentially make it more profitable.
Definitely will make it a point to camp there next spring as I'm sure that option will go away

Which reminds me, need to start planning I guess. K-Cards deadline 10/19, P-Tickets 12/14

There are a number of townhouse and condo neighborhoods, but only a few are actually 'walk to' the lifts. IF they build this village, there will be a whole new group of owners that will come up in the summer.

I thought they discontinued the K-Cards last year and only offered P-Tickets now? It’s why I decided to just get a Midweek Pass instead this year. I’m

The developer is on the hook for the access road and public water system now, so they have to build it and sell the units.

Don't underestimate Killington's potential as a year-round resort. They've been drawing large crowds for their summer events. Full parking lots today for the US Open of Mountain Biking and last weekend for the Spartan Race. With more lodging, they could probably do even more.

I was surprised to find this pile of snow guns, methodically cut up into small pieces. They are snow logic tower guns, so they're not even that old.

My theory is that these guns were traded in under Vermont's efficiency program for snowmaking. As it is a scrappage program, it requires the old equipment to be destroyed, so it can never be used again. Think of it as cash for clunkers, but for snow guns.

Now, one may think that it makes no sense to scrap relatively new low-e guns, rather than 40+ year old K3000 air hogs, but I also have a theory for that. The efficiency program might not specify what type of guns need to be destroyed, so the resort would be able to pick whatever they want, as long as it is replaced by new low-e guns. The snow logic guns are known to be of poor quality, and because the manufacturer is out of business, there is no way to get spare parts. So it makes sense to break some up and part them out to keep the rest going. Killington still has snow logic guns on several trails, and they work ok in cold temps, so I imagine they'll still be used when it makes sense.

Also, North Ridge is set up for snowmaking.

They built some incredible downhill mountain bike trails. They definitely seem like the real deal for mtb. Plus the golf course is pretty nice. Definitely on the way way to becoming a summer destination. Building up something at the base will be a good thing that adds to visitor enjoyment, because otherwise the area around Killington is kind of lackluster at the moment.
