Killington Conditions

I agree GA. It will totally change it- and not in a good way. The whole thing is designed to divert money being spent in small businesses on the access road or in Rutland to Powdr. And they’re getting local government to use taxpayer money to fund big parts of it- like a sports franchise getting their new stadium subsidized. It’s corrupt. And it may just be a personal taste thing but I don’t see the appeal of those base villages. They seem like soulless Disney-fied graveyards to me

I think we’re hesitant to hammer them because everybody likes Mike and Stu and all but I hope that village doesn’t get built.

I would hope there will still be enough to go around to support both the access road and the new village, especially with the new beds (nevermind the increased crowding on the slopes). But yeah Rutland, I didn't even think of that. Last time I was at K it seemed like Rutland was finally getting some spillover with new business coming in.

The funniest part is when he chimes in on a topic and embarrasses the armchair GM's, and I'd be lying if said I wasn't the one who got embarrassed at times.
I learned long ago (from Mike Pratt mostly) that the general public has no idea about all the variables involved.

Given how hard it is to even find a hotel room within an hour of the ski area, how could you possibly make this ridiculous statement.

No, it's designed to allow more people to stay nearby instead of day tripping from hours away or going to another ski area. There's plenty of demand to go around.

The plan was approved 75-25 by local voters in an election. There are no tax increases on existing residents. The taxes on the new units will cover the cost of building a public water system and making upgrades to the access road. In the event of any shortfalls, the developer is on the hook.

Well said

is he really all that different then say Rob Katz?
Most everybody tries to give their boss what they want. You do it. I do it.

The bigger the company the less individuality and personality you can have, and still make that happen.

At some point the biggest companies want someone who is OK with that, or even thrives in that environment.

IMO Solimano does a good job being real, Katz not so much.

Sno - There aren't enough beds in North Creek either, would you want the same plan to be implemented at Gore?

I think Steve said it best, we hold Killington and Mike to a different standard and expectation.

Perhaps a Tremblant like experience is what K was always meant to be
