What we're planning (now) is staying here in CNY then head south for Jan,Feb,March. Where that place is is yet to be seen.

Florida really is a strange place.

A few years ago we flew down to visit and older relative. When he picked us up at the airport, he casually mentioned that his neighbor (who coincidentaly was a NYS retiree from Albany) offered to give him a gun to take to the airport. Who thinks like that? Who carries a gun- an illegal gun- to the airport?

I'm pretty sure that staying away from old people with guns is usually a good idea.

The fresh and salt water fishing is world class and the mountain biking and gravel riding is good enogh

Maine taxes are NOT that great pardner !I looked at it seriously when i first retired and said NOPE .NH is ok BUT they have pretty high property taxes and hit you on investments.

They are a lot less than where I live and they would have to be a LOT less to move to Florida

Well each analysis is individualized : , as a retired SUNY exec and my wife is a retired middle school librarian so we do get a tax break, so that always enters into my analysis.

Not sure where you live, so your prop. Taxes might be punitive whereas ours are reasonable ... So perhaps in your circumstance it works
