Hickory Ski Center Might Be Reopening

the state should stop being ball busters and sign off on those lifts. they are surface lifts,. if and when they break you just let go and ski to the other one. i have done it to many times to count. What the hell are their concerns? no one will be falling out of the sky.

The way I understand it, once a lift has been out of service for 5 years, it's a lot more involved to get them approved.

I always wondered about that @sig. Is there any danger from spring tension?

Sounds like you've ridden a lot of surface lifts. I'm jealous of that. Mostly I've ridden Hickory and the Snow Pocket. I want to ski Caz.

Seems like whenever you are riding one, there is fun to be had.

Spring tension is the best part. when they hand you that saucer it lifts you right off the ground. the ride up can get taxing on the legs. especially at hickory. the upper lift is steep in spots, i have been known to space out on the ride up. once your skis leave the track you are toast. just pick yourself up and ski back down. fun times

The same state that runs a big ski area just up the road? Hmmm. Nope, nothing to see there.

:ROFLMAO: your tinfoil hat is showing, what business would the state have trying to stifle the efforts of a ski area like Hickory. There are far more harmful legitimate government conspiracies out there than ORDA forcefully outcompeting a resort that chooses to operate on a model of surface lifts and natural snow, in 2022....
