Greek Peak Conditions

They did the same thing last Saturday, but not Sunday. The way its always been is that if they load early for the races, they load early for everyone. Whoever had the bright idea of not letting the general customers load early too obviously has their head up their ass. As if it isn't bad enough losing one of the best trails on the hill every weekend to the race program. Besides that, things have been pretty F'd up this year. Both 3, and 4, weren't running at opening yesterday. 4 broke this morning, but wasn't down long 5 opened late, but only 15 minutes. The conveyor on the quad has been a problem all season causing numerous shut downs to clean snow from beneath the track. You can feel it slipping often. Oh, and 5 is back to its old rollback issues, I actually witnessed it sweep a couple completely off the loading platfom a year or two ago.

Ok homer boy Camp, let me have it.
Meh, people bitch and moan about every ski area out there.
If you want to be a whiny lil bitch it's fine with me.

There are a few ways to get to 4 without having to ride 3.
Care to share? I hate Epicarus because I have to walk most of it, someone told me they openned it last week into Castor and then Lower Atlas (lower Castor was closed) and it was all rocks so he spent the evening with PTex; everything else down that way was closed due to snowmaking. Castor Connection was roped off. I did pop down the bike trail below Castor Connection around the fencing and lollypops and was treated to a lecture by these guys wearing red jackets. Last week I went full speed up hill towards Alpha while skiers were coming down hill prepared to walk the rest of the way but I didn't appreciate the downhill skiers racing towards me. That's when we decided to just take chair 3 but when it got stuck we ended up walking under the lift to chair 4. Where's the anti-gravity secret path that doesn't involve a snowmobile?

All you have to do is get to Castor, but it does need snow.
Some spots are on the map others are not
On a board I can see where it would suck

When there's snow probably 80 or so yards below Castor connector is a spot you can scoot threw the woods that lands you just above 3.

Like I said, Greek does not like it when the sharp object on your feet gets close to their water hoses. They obviously know the paths to chair 4 by-passing chair 3, thats why they put fencing and rope it off. What this difficult year bluntly points out is how little Greek understands their customer base and their own hill. What's it take 3 maybe 4 guns to open up a path to chair 4? This is the only ski area in which the bunny slope gets mobbed by experts trying to get to another chair. Its never a good idea to mix expert and novice skiers on the same slope, but that’s encouraged here by the lack of a separate trail to get to the other side of the mountain. What finally set me off was having to wait in the RF gates while racers got the pick of hill the last two weeks. Hopefully someone from Greek will put some priority on their season pass holders and understand what it takes to make their hill skier/board friendly.

I understand your frustration but think about it…. When was the last time the temps were low enough to make snow. I’ll give them a pass on snow making as Mother Nature hasn’t been kind. I just wish when temp’s permit, they would lite the hill up with guns, but I don’t believe they are capable.
Thing’s have been improving, painted 4 and cleared some of the power lines for lights. Put in chair 3, means nothing to me but sure it helps with traffic they get on beginner slope and I would think it’s a pretty good money grab.

Supposed to have upgraded snow making but have yet to be convinced. IMHO this is Greeks weakest link. Baby steps I guess, but with price they are getting for a season pass, it’s getting close to a breaking point where people will start going elsewhere if thing’s don’t change.

Bottom line is, it’s been a tough year. Get as much time as you can and try to enjoy yourself, there’s always fault to be found but let it go and ski. You’ll have a choice for next season and there’s options for sure. I’ll be back at Greek more than likely unless Elk starts night skiing again. But even if they did I’d probably get a pass at both. Greek just blows away Elk with terrain, but Elk blows away Greek at snow making.

They should not open chair 4 without a viable path to get there besides the bunny slope. I wonder about the "increased" snowmaking capacity, all I've seen is guns spread out all over the place but not enough concentration to cover any trail any faster. Have you noticed the one fan gun sitting in the middle of Christies all by its lonesome for the last month(?). Has it been turned on? I give them credit for all these capital improvements but all I want is simple logical resource management. I understand the lifts and snowmaking are old and can live with that. Being treated like a second class citizen is harder to shallow. I'm thinking the Epic pass for next year but I can only do weekends but spending every weekend in a hotel is not very appealing. I just hope someone wakes up at Greek and fixes things.
