Not defending some of the other decision-making about the Ski Bowl, but wanted to push back on this a bit. I'm an intermediate on a good day, had my one trip to Gore a couple years ago on a cold/windy late Feb weekend when conditions were generally bulletproof. I was able to ski Backwoods comfortably, also skied Sagamore a couple times but that was at my upper limit and I was very glad to have Backwoods as an option. We parked at the Ski Bowl on the day we skied there l so never had to do Cedars, but the bump on Hedges was not a big deal and I don't remember Paradox/Eagle's Nest being a concern. The whole interconnect is a misconceived joke. The point of Backwoods was to have an easier way to the Burnt Ridge quad and Ski Bowl. But if your comfort level is Backwoods, you're not gonna have the skating/gliding skills to cross Cedars easily, and you're gonna be terrified on the steeper pitches of Paradox or Eagles Nest or whatever they call the trail back to the BRQ. You're not gonna like coming back over that little bump at the top of Hedges either.
None of which I would care about except that they are neglecting the main mountain to justify the whole thing.

Personally my absolute favorite thing about Gore was the opportunity to explore all the different areas. Wife and I skied one day with my daughter who wasn't feeling adventurous and stuck to the Adirondack Express and North Quad, skied the next day on our own and spent time at Ski Bowl, Burnt Ridge and Straight Brook (planned to hit Topridge but they closed for wind just as we got there). Two totally different experiences made possible by the interconnect, and as someone based four hours away the interconnect and that roam-around experience it opens up is what would make me choose Gore over VT mountains in the future. Now as to the resources required to make that happen and whether ORDA manages/deploys its resources in wise ways....
