Gore Mountain Conditions

First groom is always the worst. It will get better. They had little Gore lit up yesterday when I was in town early afternoon. I thought Wednesday and Thursday as some of the best skiing this year (I didn't say conditions) I think it makes sense with what they did. They spread it out nicely. You will always be able to find a spot with minimal lines tomorrow despite the place being mobbed. Don't forget the webcams. I might try Monday
P.S. Anyone park at the bowl today?

I hope your right tomorrow about it not being mobbed. Elected for Gore due to the high winds and my other options at Tremblant and Sugarbush being a likely mob scene tomorrow. Also elected for WF Sunday so hope that pays off as well. Monday is TBD based on the storm and how WF skis Sunday.

Personally my absolute favorite thing about Gore was the opportunity to explore all the different areas.
That’s the dividing line on Gore. If you’re happy to get lost and skate around for a while to figure it out you’ll like Gore. If you always want to know where you are and the easiest way to get where you want to go, you’ll have a hard time there. It’s like a Rorschach test on snow.

I failed the ink spot test yesterday... Sunway Chair was open so I elected to use it thinking I could switch over to Lower Sunway trail. I was helping a couple of ladies, one of whom was having a hard time with the initial steepness below Sunway Chair. Otter Slide was blocked by crossed marker poles. On the trail map there should have been a connection to Lower Sunway trail directly below Otter Slide. There was a sign "To Sunway" but it was blocked as well? And for good reason since there was extremely thin cover with rocks showing! We picked our way thru to Lower Sunway. Was Pete's Paradise our only option off Sunway Chair? It really looked like this "To Sunway" connection is being eliminated.

I'm sorry to report, we won't be interviewing Bone at this time.

Maybe we'll get another chance in the future.

Gore is a mixed bag. The mountain absorbed the crowds well. The Straightbrook chair had to load every other chair, and there was quite a line, so I did not stay over there. The Hudson chair is nice, 46er was quite slick. It was disheartening to get the report that skiing at Whiteface was excellent...I probably should have gone north.

Better yesterday. Not as crowded as would be expected given it was sold out. Adk and Gondi lines seems like a typical Saturday. When SBQ started a line we went back down.

One other detail-I was all over the mountain today. If they had any guns going, I didn't see them. Seems odd...

Definitely better skiing gore today than last weekend. Twister, showcase, quicksilver, sleighride all quite good between 8:15-9:15. No open pit (closed) then Hawkeye and Topridge which were both better than last week.

Straightbook line chased me to BR and Bowl by 10. Nice to be able to bounce between two high speed chairs with no lines til just now. Not sure what to make of new chair and new lodge - so many thoughts but of course chair is a big improvement. I hope they don’t have to convert half the lodge into staff dormitory.

Coverage at Bowl is impressive - as others have said it’s all a little hard but skiable and nice to get my heart racing on 46er.

Also nice to ski Echo which may have been my favorite - so rare I did it twice.

Heading back out to North and Dark Side but will quickly exit if lines too long.
