Gore Mountain Conditions

Calling @snoloco...

How many days has the Gore interconnect been open each of the last five years?

Or if that is too hard, what was the record for most days ever?

Other than 2011-2012 and 2015-2016 where it was only open one weekend, and didn't open at all, I have found the opening of the ski bowl to be oddly consistent. It has always been late January or early February. They did open it in December in 2012 and 2017 on natural snow, but it had to close down after a thaw and didn't reopen for a while. Then it reopened on snowmaking during the aforementioned timeframe. It has usually only been open on a weekend or extended weekend schedule. Whether it's Thursday-Sunday, Friday-Sunday, or Saturday-Sunday, I've seen all 3. The latest it has been open was April 2, 2023. There have also been years where it closed in mid to late March, and some where it melted out in February during a thaw, and then reopened on natural snow later on. The cliff notes version is that the schedule has been anemic and inconsistent. This is one of the earlier snowmaking openings, and they made MLK Weekend, which has not happened since the 2019-2020 season. I hope it will be open more days of the week, and stay open later in the season.

Any idea how many days a season over the last five years? Or what was the most days ever?

I’d rather see more open on the main mountain. Some weekdays the north quad or even High Peaks is closed. More Ski Bowl is gonna mean less of the main mountain, and not just because of snowmaking. I’m sure some of the weekday closures ( especially glades) are because of too few qualified patrollers.

When did the interconnect ever open before Uncas or Open Pit?

When ORDA has to fall back to its core philosophy of never backing down and always doubling down in the face of complaints/opposition. Does that sound like someone we know? 🤔

Quantity over quality has been the name of the game in recent years. So what if Showcase, Twister, Topridge and Sagamore are never full edge to edge? Boasting the interconnect is priority number one.

So an average of 5-6 weekends of three days a week sounds like a new high speed quad that will run less than 25 days a year. 🤔😵‍💫😱🤬

I'm not sure what you guys were expecting. They are investing in the ski bowl and want to get it connected.

I'll be honest I thought this would be an issue next year, not this year.
