Gore Mountain Conditions

The snowmaking quality at Gore has been very good for a few years now, but they just don't cover enough area. Belleayre, Whiteface, Killington and Windham were all top to bottom last weekend, but Gore has hardly made any snow above the Saddle. Today's snow report is that they ".. are shifting some of our snowmaking to the upper mountain areas including Ruby Run, Foxlair and Topridge." They should have been able too open High Peaks by now, but they don't even have a continuous green trail from the Saddle. When will they be able to open Burnt Ridge or that $30 million zippy thingy lodge? Where are they gonna be able to make snow when they have to build the Hole Shot course. ORDA has committed Gore to way too much without providing the amount of snowmaking all that will require.

Gondi has been down,

First day out today. It was much better than I expected given wednesdays weather. Tahawas and wild air had the best snow. Snowmaking on lower sunway and both sleigh rides. Possibly elsewhere that wasn’t visible. Thanks to the groomers for making it a good day.

No Snow Report for Friday posted... guess someone forgot to press SEND. I'll check in the morning but I really am a big fan of the "Anticipated" reports posted late in the afternoon the day before. From the webcam I was surprised how well the base area held up to the rain. I expected mud. Here 50 miles south, I am back to looking at brown grass. Rain took nearly all the 3 or so inches we had.

Somehow, with the way the rain thoroughly soaked into the man made snow and compressed it, wild air and quicksilver skied better today than Tuesday morning. Groomers did a great job.

The website is down and can't be updated. They are making updates via social media.

From the base webcam.... a lot of activity around the gondola this morning. Plus the cabins are spinning. Probably prepping for the weekend? So far my search on 'social media' have not given me much of an update on what is open or conditions? Still deciding if it is worth an hour drive up. I really only ski lower mountain which currently means Bear Cub. Groomed over icy base might be too fast for me????
