Sugary, crystalline snow might be the better description. Put it this way, it was a good burn on the cheeks skiing without a face mask....I Love NY!
I think a LITTLE ice is ok.
Gondi has been down,The snowmaking quality at Gore has been very good for a few years now, but they just don't cover enough area. Belleayre, Whiteface, Killington and Windham were all top to bottom last weekend, but Gore has hardly made any snow above the Saddle. Today's snow report is that they ".. are shifting some of our snowmaking to the upper mountain areas including Ruby Run, Foxlair and Topridge." They should have been able too open High Peaks by now, but they don't even have a continuous green trail from the Saddle. When will they be able to open Burnt Ridge or that $30 million zippy thingy lodge? Where are they gonna be able to make snow when they have to build the Hole Shot course. ORDA has committed Gore to way too much without providing the amount of snowmaking all that will require.

That has nothing to do with it. You can easily reach any part of Gore without the gondola, but even when it opens the upper mountain won’t be ready.Gondi has been down,
The website is down and can't be updated. They are making updates via social media. No Snow Report for Friday posted... guess someone forgot to press SEND. I'll check in the morning but I really am a big fan of the "Anticipated" reports posted late in the afternoon the day before. From the webcam I was surprised how well the base area held up to the rain. I expected mud. Here 50 miles south, I am back to looking at brown grass. Rain took nearly all the 3 or so inches we had.
