Gore Mountain Conditions

Trying to decide between Gore and Belleayre for Thursday.

Slow poke: I am currently leaning toward going to Belle Thursday and Friday. I would probably get into Belle around 10 am on Thursday. Feel free to private message me if you want to meet up for a few turns and I'll send you my cell.

Thinking of biting the bullet and doing a lesson at Gore tomorrow (Wednesday). I am thinking it might be less crowded since it is before the holiday crowds arrive. Smaller lesson group, etc. But I wonder about the snow conditions on trails like Bear Cub. I am sure this would be the targeted trail for my novice level. My last trip was Friday and I struggled with my skills and thought the conditions at the top of Bear Cub were a bit challenging. Skiers from above come around a curve and often find newbies and lessons groups at the intersection. The area gets skied off and congested. Anyone recently skied Bear Cub? Lessons are not cheap and I do not want to waste my $$ and time. But I do think it is time for a lesson!

I was there on Sunday. Snow conditions were pretty decent. Smart to take a group lesson midweek and before next weeks craziness. Since you are not a 1st timer, your "group" will be probably be quite small. Hope you have fun with your bluejacket coach!

I got a late start so I did not do a lesson. Only lessons I saw were snowboarders. After some tweaking of my boot fit I had a very good day. Snow was soft but not unbearable. Zero crowds. Definitely a thumbs up, bonus day for me. I do hope Gore gets the scheduled cold weather. Some areas are definitely in need of a snow boost! BTW there was action around the gondola... Was spinning for awhile. Then nothing so I have no idea if it was good news or another disappointment. A number of the discussions I had with others centered around the mid week holidays. Kind of a double whammy if the crowds come and more terrain is not open, Cold weather in the forecast but no hint of a major natural snow dump. Bummer for vacationing families that need varied terrain to keep everyone happy.

Nice conditions today. They opened twister to echo to AE2. That was the pick of the day.

Indeed, but alas in true Gore fashion, it will be closed from Friday on for racing. If the effort to make snow on Twister from twister's little sister was considered to the base via lower showcase, it was tossed aside 🤷‍♂️

Why not blow snow on lower showcase? Why force everyone into the narrow and dirt/icy Lower Sleighride?

OR: why not blow snow on Wood-in to be able to use High Peaks quad which would enable cloud, open pit, etc.?
Use the top of the mountain where the natural snow already exists: whatta concept!
