Gore Mountain Conditions

I hope I didn't steer you wrong on the wind @dubstar. Looks like some risk, maybe on the gondola. If so brave the quad, and skate to the high peaks chair. Then move over to straightbrook, out of the wind. If you get up top, stay there.

No problem, Harvey! Ripping day even with the wind. That's exactly what I did with the lifts. First run I took Cloud to Lies to hit the untracked very top section on skier's left. I haven't been to Gore in 20 years possibly even the '90s, so I had fun exploring. Didn't even realize it was Lies until I looked at the trail map 🙃 Great soft snow all day with plenty of untracked sections. Some of it was deep. More tomorrow, but here's a frame grab from my first run at the top of Lies.

This is for Mad man. The summit is rarely open from top to bottom at opening bell. If you are first on Gondi, you are not skiing Uncas or Pine Knot. If you hop on AEII, you are not going down Wood In.
Many ski resorts have progressive openings, meaning not all lifts or terrain open at the same time. That's not a problem, as long as the posted hours are adhered to. The problem is that Gore often missed the posted hours. Until there are upper lifts open, the out-of-base lift capacity is 0. Again, I'm not the only one who has brought this up.

Opening everything at once requires more manpower then you need the rest of the day.

Many (bigger) hills open bottom-to-top, and close top-to-bottom.

what a beautiful day ☀️❄️⛷. Lots of good stuff up top, dark side, well, shoot, pretty much everywhere I’ve skied

MMMM....not sure. My ROTDs were Rumor, Chati and I didn't get a shot of Dark Side Glade! Everything up top was great. Stuff we skied on Sunday that didn't see traffic today was, I heard two different terms but not great, Cheesey and Marshmellowee...one and done! My last 3 days of skiing were maybe the best of the year. Friday there was no snow in the great range...we couldn't see it Sunday but today, everything is right with the world. Everything looks great covered in white!
This is what we live for...well me anyway
