Gore Mountain Conditions

They built the Bear Cub Quad because Gore lacked a true beginner lift at the main base. The old platter lift was inadequate because it had terrible capacity, and often had long lines. They obviously have significant issues that need to be fixed, but there's no question that it was worth it to build the lift.
Why’d they go with a shiny new "Skytrac 4-CLF"?
According to Liftblog the shiny new one at Nub’s Nob is "Skytrac 4-CLF “Green”".

Have they tried alt/control/delete and/or turning it all off and on?

The Wood Lots don't have close enough gun spacing for a quick turnaround, so it can't open early season.
Wood Lot could have more snowmaking, but it doesn't because the plan is to open gondola first, High Peaks last. It should be the opposite. AE2 is actually the better located lift for access to both High Peaks, Burnt Ridge and the North quad, and it provides easy access to Straightbrook and Topridge as well. Basing your whole operating plan on relying on the most unreliable lift is nuts.

At least if the gondola reopens soon we'll get a good view of the progress on the glacier they need to build on Arena.

Because Skytrac won the bid. This is not rocket science.
Some places leave their surface lifts in place as reserves in case things get busy and/or go wrong. Guarantee ya the old horse would be spinning if it was still around.
It’s Mountain Ops science.

Ever try to do change control on MS Project?
There’s blackholes.

Actually, the old lift broke back in 2021 and was down for like the last 2 months of the season.

Update from the Gore FB page:
The Summit will be opening soon! We're working hard to open the Wood In trail providing access to the Summit and Topridge via the High Peaks Quad. Our goal is to have the High Peak Quad up and running tomorrow, 1/2/2024. Please be aware that the Northwoods Gondola is currently undergoing mechanical repairs, which may take some time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

For a supposedly sold out holiday, the crowd at base looks light for even a normal weekday. Cost/benefit analysis for over relying on an old lift and not maintaining it better vs. lost bar, food, rental and lesson income on a holiday weekend?

Glad I’m not one of those who plunked down $114 some time ago for a ticket for today. I’ll bet the phones/email for refunds and transfers is lit up like a Christmas tree.

Relying on your oldest lifts (gondola, Topridge, Straightbrook) instead of featuring your newest one (High Peaks) - what could go wrong?

Rumor alert:

Two weeks for the gondi?

That's what I heard.
