Gore Improvements Summer 2021

I heard at one point Gore was replacing the Bear Cub Poma with a new one this summer. If anyone goes by the base area, see if there’s any action over there.

"No Bear Cub replacement, that's a few years out."

Re: LS

"It's not a straightening, but you will be able to ski more directly from Upper to Lower.

This will allow us to groom it once in a while, not daily, make better snow on it etc."

With the increase in capacity of the HP chair they need more trail capacity on that side. Lower Steilhang hasn't been open often in recent years, but now it's just another groomer, Just one more reason the HP replacement is a disaster.

What is the increase in capacity?

What is the increase in capacity?

The 2018 amendment to the UMP includes a lot more than simply straightening LS. The widening/straightening extends up to about the last third of Upper Steilhang. I also includes widening lower Cloud and removing all the trees between Upper Darby and Upper Open Pit. ALl that is gonna add capacity, there's no other purpose to it.

Interestingly, the UMP states that regrading for new lifts would be limited to the terminals and tower bases and the maps don't show any widening of through Darkside. Nothing is suppose to be built if it is not part of the UMP. Obviously that didn't happen and that's one of the reason I'm so unhappy about all of the the so-called "improvements."

I understand the increase in capacity relates to the lift itself. Volume of skiers to the summit is now twice what it was. It makes sense that they are looking at expanding trail capacity. Otherwise, we would all complaining about crowded trails when the weekend skiers return to precovid numbers.

I broke out this thread.

What is the increase in capacity?

I was wondering about the increase in capacity of the HP chair. It's got at least 2x the seats, maybe more, the chairs look closer together. But I also think it runs slower.

Maybe @Peter or @snoloco knows.
