The only compensation I received doing collegiate sports was by running.
As a freshman at the track meet in Oneonta they gave us a meal stipend.
We used it for some suds for the long bus ride back north.
The next year our coed team won the 1st place Turkey at the Turkey Trot before Thanksgiving.
The ladies lived in the dorm & didn’t have a clue how to cook it but it was still all good.

Similar experience at D 3 when I was undergrad,but my son was D1 and a track /XC All East for 4 yrs ,that was a different situation.But track was funded like D2 at his Uni.

FSU was ranked 4th and won their championship game to remain undefeated with their 3rd string QB.
The Ohio State Buckeyes won the 1st ever CFP after being beat by Va Tech at home and having to use their 3rd string QB after the 2nd stringer went down in their last league game vs. Michigan.
It only makes sense if it makes a lot of cent$.

The coaches' poll had FSU in at #3 & Bama out.
Might be time to say "check please" to the ACC.

If the undefeated Huskies and the cheatin(allegedly) undefeated Wolverines both get beat & the Noles beat the dang Bulldogs folks can make a case for FSU to be the real number 1.
