Remember it all

I think I weighed in earlier in this thread. I can remember some very early stuff, back to when I was only a year old ...and tons of personal stuff from the 70s but that doesn’t really count.
OK. President Kennedy winning vs Nixon in ’60 then.
But remembrances of my Grandma’s cooking is still stronger in my mind.

Earliest big event? Watching John F Kennedy's funeral procession on TV.

Definitely the moon landing! Science class was all about model rocketry. Still remember my teacher yelling “Pay attention!” Launch pad fail, the teacher who was anal about paying attention didn’t tighten the wing nut on the tripod. A gaggle of girls yakking on the play ground. Lit fuse and launch pad tilted over . All the girls scattered except one who had her back to the action. Loud shhhhhh and the speeding rocket went between her legs and into the building. ???

Not an early memory, but a freaky one. During the first Gulf War when scuds were first launched on Israel by Iraq it was falsely reported they were armed with chemical warheads. I was on my way to lunch on my second shift job and heard it on the radio. I'm pretty sure Iraq would've been nuked by Israel if they were chemical warheads. I can remember being incredulous that nukes were about to be used again. Thank God it wasn't the case.

JFK assassination on TV & Funeral. Remember my parents standing silently watching, stunned & saddened.

JFK. I remember being in the supermarket with my mom when the announcement that he had been shot came over the radio. The gasp in the store was clearly audible. I was 5.

Now I feel old.

Remember it all

It's hard to just think back and say what you remember until your memory is jogged some.

I totally remember the 1972 Israeli Olympic massacre. Being in the famliy room of my house and hearing my mom gasp.
