Cuomo says ski areas in NY to open at 50% Capacity

Tents on the patio, remove a ton of tables, REALLY limit/cancel races.

Removing tables is inconvenient, but it's one way to increase usable square footage inside and discourages some people from camping out longer than necessary---hey, we all got to get inside at some point each day.... Those picnic tables are crowd magnets.

And table/indoor occupancy on race days peaks crazy at certain points during the day. Especially with some non-Gore racers that then have non-skiing parents roll in too.

I'd imagine bus/group sales would have to be limited too?

As long as I've got a place to stash my bag, I'm good. Will figure it out from there.

I had this conversation with a buddy of mine the other day. Not opening might be the best, or only way, to survive?
I'll always remember a hand written sign taped to the inside of a ticket selling window at Killington way back in mid November, anticipating the bitching about nearly full price day tickets for maybe twenty trails. "Snowmaking is expensive." That it is.

1/4 mile isn’t that bad! If you really dislike it that much just get there early.

I often leave home so I’m In the lot an hour before the lifts spin to beat traffic and secure a good spot. It’s worth it imo.

it looks like Covid numbers are exploding now. Has the president reacted to this yet? Crickets on his end?

Everyone likes to give Benny shit for being a negative Nancy on TGR but I unfortunately agree with him on this winter. It’s F-d.
I’m the king of early arrival
I enjoy getting to a deserted lodge and relaxing with my coffee and booting up like a civilized person. I also change into my ski clothes in the lodge
I can’t imagine driving in ski pants for two hrs.

I guess we need to take a wait and see.
if we have a warm winter this will all be moot.

I can’t imagine driving in ski pants for two hrs.

At Gore it's just a few minutes. But I drive hours in ski gear, just changing my shoes.

For me a Plattekill day has more than 6 hours in ski pants behind the wheel.

Swamp ass
Seriously, Harv, drive in base layer and just slip the ski pants on in the car before exiting.

On that note, your car stays remarkably warm even on cloudy, cold days. Let the state put a Health Dept employee at every lodge to enforce the rules. Lots of people won't enjoy booting up at their cars or waiting on a line to get into a lodge and the skiing will be better for those who do!!

I'll pass on pumping gas in my longjohns.

You guys do what you want, I just don't mind it. With no heat and windows cracked the car stays close to outside temperature.
