Spent a day and a half at the Boston expo, now called Snowbound Expo. Well worth the trip. Helps that I had a friend from DC interested in riding up to MA with me, and we could stay with another friend who lives in Quincy. The Quincy friend and I are volunteer Snowbound Ambassadors. Don't have to do much. Get early entry, a swag bag, and a t-shirt.
The Boston expo was a blend between the former Boston Ski Expo and Snowbound 2022. The fact that Ski Essentials is the major retailer made a big difference. Quite a few major brands for skis, boots, and snowboards were represented. Also indy brands such as Peak, Meirer, J Skis. Several ways to play such as rollerblades, dry slope, obstacle course so families with kids seem to be having a good time.
I didn't go to any of the presentations. Had the most fun chatting with the family behind The Ski Pack and the new folks at Tenney Mountain. The inventor of The Ski Pack, Maddie, is in 8th grade now. She came up with the idea as a school project when she was in 4th grade. The family includes 4 kids. When they went to their home mountain with the homemade early version, parents were asking where they could buy one. I bought one last year at Snowbound. It's really helpful for me, as a petite older skier who can't keep skis on a shoulder.
Dan Egan has taken on the job as GM of Tenney. The new Marketing Director is very excited to try some new ideas. Apparently they want to spearhead a conference for independent mountains in the northeast some time soon.
