Blue Mountain PA Conditions

Based on the Platty grooming comments I figured I'd give an update... this season (actually last with natural snow!) Blue opened a new trail FreeFall, or more affectionately know as Trail Coming Soon. It's really only a partial trail as it has a nicely pitched Pocono Black headwall that dumps right onto a bend in a Green cruiser , Paradise. Ultimately I believe it will extend to the base whenever the expansion to the East occurs, but in the meantime this intersection is a potential shit show.
Blue is conducting a grand experiment of leaving the bottom headwall ungroomed to slow folks down coming into Paradise. As of Sunday it's working great, with soft gun pow bumps with a fun half-pipish ditch skiers left through the guns. Sorry no pics, too fun to stop Saturday and light too flat on Tele Sunday.
Time will tell what happens after a few freeze/thaw cycles, all uncharted territory for Blue

Super fun night at Blue. The wind was refreshing the bumps on the new trail Freefall on every run. The moon shining low on the horizon had a cool effect that my phone camera didn’t do justice. Freefall is turning out to be a great addition .
They dealt with the shit show by overlapping two fences so exiting requires slowing down and navigating through a 5’ wide 15’ cattle chute . Looks to be working.

Overall a bit crowded when one lift was shut down but eventually improved. I counted 8 busses when I left.

My high school ski club used to go up there friday nights, we were 3 buses and I know we were definitely not the only school up there nights. They still go up fridays in jan and feb, they even kept doing it last year.

I need to stop by and check out coming soon would have been our group's first choice today due to shorter drive but tickets were $125! I'll maybe stop in for a spring meltdown night session when it gets reasonably priced again

It’s 48° raining pretty good and it’s St. Patrick’s Day. Probably a good decision to close.
