Bad Wipeout

Yup, that’s the same place. Didn’t know it was a monastery. Lord knows when we were there it wasn’t. Bus had problems due to diesel gelling up. On the way up near Montreal there was a lightning snow storm. Snow was great just really cold.
No this was NOT the monastery that was actually ON THE POINT at Lac Superiur THIS is where we stayed after the Monastery was closed ?

My bad. Fireplace, beams and furniture looked similar.
We stayed at where this place is: Doesn’t look the same as it was red and looked older than the pic. It was ~25 years ago.

Saw a girl, about 10 years old, go flying into the woods just left of Lower Northway (WF). I thought she was dead. Her dad and I got there about the same time. Seeing both of us a bit flustered, she asked how close of a call it was. Her dad looked at me and all I could say was, "it would have made Sports Center."

Side note, it's amazing how many near collisions there are because people don't look uphill when merging trails, doing a long traverse, etc.

Couple of downhills on the new trail at van Ho could use fencing. In flat light, you can't see the edges of the trail and there's a drop-off.

Agree with @D.B. Cooper about looking uphill at merges. Especially if you're the more experienced skier and you're around newbies.

Looking uphill at junctions is Great advice !!
It is and I agree that you should but it’s worth noting that the obligation to avoid the collision is on the uphill skier. It’s a fact of life that big hills need to bisect fall-line expert trails with green traverse trails and there’s no right To maintain speed just because you’re having fun and in a rhythm.

Sure but even though that as a pedestrian I have the right of way I still look both ways before crossing the street.

Scene safety is a concept lost with so many people. We just had to tell the neighbor that they shouldn't park so close to being under the buildings overhang because of the giant icicles that were going to fall onto their car. The gal even said "Oh wow, I didn't notice that". Like how the F can people go about every day without looking for the obvious dangers around them? We sometimes get lines of snowboarders that will sit across the slope with their backs turned to uphill traffic exposing their spines to collision. There can be 5 or 6 of them blocking up to a third of a ski run, I call it the human Jerricade. It leaves me scratching my head and wondering how they've made it this far.

Right on RA that line of resting boarders at the lip,of a drop is a concern .

One time i was coming down a headwall and noticed two things there was a line of sitting boarders up ahead and a young boarder coming down the drop obviously not aware of others on the slope ,so i moved extreme skiers left and there was a drop off a gully thereand the line of sitting boarders was ahead from centrr to the right

I gave him a wide berth but i couldnt get any farther out of his way , yet he inadvertently swerved right into me . The impact broke my binding and the yoho freaking never stopped after the impact pissed me . Luckily the mountain let me use their skis at no cost to make up for the incident which others saw .
