Might go to Lake Placid Saturday to check out a touring set up.
Friend is driving from CNY to WF for the opener. Up & back same day.

If I go I’ll bring my skis & boots but this old fart might feel more comfortable getting a touring set up than skiing that day.

Here we go. Winter's barely started and people are doing dopey stuff. "New folks owning an attitude resembling something altogether different than Raised Jay." Skiing over winch cables. Again.
Ya can’t fix stupid.
But the skool of hard knocks will learn ya fast.

Friend said he had a good time at WF. Great weather, good snow and met a friend he hadn’t skied with in a long time in the mega-liftline. Did 6 runs and done.

I think I’m just gonna roll with a simple Hok-ski setup for old fart touring around close to home.

@Harvey please move if this isn't the right spot.

read this earlier today. sounds like a shit show. unfortunately it is where our beloved sport is headed. everyone chasing the goods, both inbounds and back country

I'm all for people chasing their bliss. But in the name of all that's holy, have some humility and common sense. If ya gotta turn around, the mountain is gone be there another day.

I do a decent amount of touring in your neck if the woods.

The hoks ain’t made for rippin.
Check out the Koms if you want to rip. If you want more of a snowshoe experience go with the Hoks.

Thanks.
Mainly looking for old fart winter exercises and enjoyments. It’d be nice to go faster than snow shoes. Just looking to safely cruise down some smooth slopes as well as walks in the woods. Tain’t too rocky around here and most rocks are round. There are lots of trees though.

If I want speed and/or lots of turns I’ll go to the local lift served monopoly bumps with my nice skis.
