Alpine Touring Thread

It was my understanding that Whiteface had a hardcore group of uphillers (including Scotty Jack and Pants) that were bummed when ORDA dialed back access.

Personally I think it should be $15 a day and $150 for the season at all three hills. SKI3 Uphill. Of course included with any alpine pass, on days that pass is good.

I always wondered at Gore if the issue was Sunway. The logical uphill route, but also very busy with skiers and snowmobiles.

Glad to know I no longer need to hide in the shadows when going up at the B. $25 is a lot of dough just for a single day, but as someone who is buying a season pass regardless I don't mind if the cost keeps the number of people going up down.

This is awesome! Can’t wait to go. Hopefully it will be this week.

Very cool that they are allowing it all day instead of just early morning.

Also noticed that they set a policy for snowshoeing and will allow people to download the gondola. Hopefully they will continue to promote access to the ridge for snowshoers and cross country skiers. Skiing to the old fire tower site and back is a nice loop. It’s gradual and holds natural snow most of the season. The Sunset Lodge and Hirschland Lean-to make great pitstops. This is something that could appeal to non skiers and since it is a lower cost is more approachable than a full lift or uphill pass

Are you going to ride your bike from central Jersey then go uphill at Bell in a single day or some crazy shit like that!?!? :D

This was my high point. Might not look like much of a run, but I can assure you it skied worse than it looks! Pretty good coverage above about 2500 ft but I'm afraid the coming warm weather will take it all out. Was a good year...

So long, and thanks for all the turns!

SCARPA is based in the bumps below the Dolomites.
Folks make great quality footwear there.

When I was went to Milan for work I asked a young smart engineer, "what kind of shoes should I get?”. He said get Geox. Those were the best shoes I ever wore.
The story of how Geox started is cool.

Maybe somebody will invent some drier ski boots if they haven’t already.
