Gore Mountain Conditions

Haven't posted in a while. I skied at Gore today with my kids and had an awesome time.

Chatti had some good bump lines, super fun. Rumor was also very good with big bumps. I don't think the headwall was open, we entered via hawkeye. We lapped those trails and that is all we really skied, we got tired relatively quickly. There were no coverage issues getting down to the base, although we did ski through some puddles. The coverage to the base may be a problem with a few more warm days.

Any future days where it doesn't get warm enough to soften are going to be pretty rough IMO.

What is the run out to the bottom like? I skied the NY owned place to the north and was worried about the skis I had today but no issues getting down. I have to admit they have more snow (but less variety) I am between skis for tomorrow morning at Gore
skied down quick silver without issue. plenty of coverage. wild air was closed for some reason

Thank you for all of the "conditions" reports. I brought out my better skis and made it back without any major damage. That being said the AC 50s are back for the rest of the season. ROTD by far was Chatti. Best bumps on Gore and Whiteface(I was there yesterday). Lies was a bit better than Rumor but not enough to skate over a lot. First time I ever vacated first chair on AEII to chase a bunch of old racers down cedars but it was worth it...

It was pretty rough early today before it got soft. Wild air skied well after 10 but getting there wasn’t so easy. I think sunway has graduated from beginner to intermediate. Some puddles at the bottom are deeper than they look. Ask me how I know.

Another good spring day today. Pulled in around 9. Started with a Showcase which had just softened to Wild Air. Both great. Then over to BR. Sagamore was as good as it gets corn and flat. Did 3 laps before heading over via Backwash...I mean Backwoods to the bowl. 46er also excellent and did 4 laps before heading up top via the journey of 3 lifts because Echo was closed for racing.

Up top I lapped Lies, Rumor, and Chati rest of the day. All were great though I would say Chati had best bumps. Rumor best corn. Lies was still great too.

Nice sunny day for the most part with light crowd. At 2:30 it clouded up, the temperature plummeted, started to spit snow, and things started to firm up up top. Did a nice corny Fairview to a slushy Wild Air to end the day around 3:15.

I was really impressed how much snow is left down at the bowl and BR. For the most part both are in good shape. Worst shape is Sunway from the Saddle to Wild Air. It was getting to adventure skiing by the time I left.

Not sure I'll be back to Gore this season as I have my Killington IKON days to use up. If this was my last Gore day it was a solid one.

The trails skied really well… true spring skiing. Unfortunately, it’s the “connectors” that go first bc they never blow enough snow on them. I always wonder if it’s on purpose.

Had GREAT runs on 46er, Sagamore, Backwoods, Lies, Top Ridge & Uncas Left today.

Unfortunately, tomorrow is the last day at the bowl. I can’t be there, so those of you that get to ski it, enjoy it.

The flats are more exposed to the direct angle of the sun light if there’s no shade. Add leaves and/or brown dirt and they get toasted much quicker when the sun shines on em. They named in Sunway for a reason.

Building big whale snow “banks” nearby to push out for when needed is a solution.

Good to hear most trails are still skiing well.

Was going to go to WF today but positive reports here made me decide to save the driving.

No regrets - started with Moxham and 46er - both solid but edgeable. Sagamore was worth some laps and Backwoods was in good shape. just did Lies which was fun. Headed to Topridge for some sun but it should be a good day. Probably won’t ski lower mountain much - hoping to avoid cedars on way back to bowl. Echo looked open (ie no racing) when I went by so hoping I won’t be denied Twister Little Sister later today.

Glad I came!
