Gore Mountain Conditions

Glad I went today. Fast and firm in spots, soft in others. Sagamore and lies were picks of day. Lots of good coverage.

Today was what I needed. Bluebird and the high peaks were all white topped and glaring and I slept in. Got to the bowl at 11. 5-46ers and a half hour later moved to Sagamore. I love the new Hudson lift! I saw a few regulars leaving as I was walking up and said the mountain was horrible, nothing groomed and frozen solid. IDK but showing at 11 seemed perfect. ROTD early for me 46er, then Sagamore and finally the overall winner was Lies! Topridge gets an honorable mention but that lift. I spoke to Bone at that awesome passholder party, and he said the new Bear lift will be just like 6 and there will be no starter ramp. Still slow but a little faster. If you had edges, Rumor could have been fun. Tops had powder but the deep troughs were solid. yes powder maybe an inch plus but at this point it is what it is. Kudos to whoever is grooming, whether they are ours, Belle or Whiteface, The creativity is incredible. How Topridge, Twister and the interconnect are still open is incredible. Thank you to all involved!

Gore announced an ice hold on all lifts early this morning, then gave up and closed for the day at 10:20 am. I wish there was a parking lot webcam so I could see how many pissed off customers risked the icy roads to get to the mountain. The ice couldn’t be “anticipated” for the 4 pm post yesterday based on every weather forecast that put Gore in the bullseye of the freezing rain? They “anticipated” enough to announce in advance that Burnt Ridge and Ski Bowl would be closed.
Other ski areas announce advance closures for an all day soaker to save their snow (not to mention personnel costs). Also nice to let folks know before they travel.

Nope just a grumpy old man like the most of us. Had a nice beer and chat with him and Milo at the Bandstand (you're welcome for the plug, Sipp happens). If you know anything about weather...TODAY WAS A CRAPSHOOT! If you went you know. Whiteface won if you could get there! Good night and good luck

Nope, just looking for a little common sense.
I’ve had epic days for the last two weeks at Gore. Hats off to the groomers for finding snow to creatively push around to keep trails open.

I gotta say, coming up from the Inlet area thru Tupper, etc, had no problems getting to Whiteface yesterday morning. Felt it had the potential to get slick in some places but I’m still running my SUV with winter tires.
