Gore Mountain Conditions

Bottom is pretty brutal with a crust, no groom, and near 0 visibility...up top much better in and out of the clouds and things are softening up.

Glad I didn't bail on today as it crossed my mind this morning...

Ended up being a pretty decent day. First couple runs on lower mountain on Showcase and Twister were socked in and crusty. Put my Instrument Rating to use...on skis...Thankfully up top was above the clouds by around 9:30 and a little softer. Things continued to soften as the day progressed. Mainly lapped Rumor and Lies which were very good. Chatty, Topridge, and Hullabaloo runner ups for best of the day. Was pretty much deserted which was expected.

Finished the day with a run down to the car on Wild Air which was surprisingly good and not a slush fest which is what I had anticipated. Left around 1:30 for the drive back to Syracuse to beat driving in the line of storms. Truly was one of those you gotta go to know days

I agree I'm not sure what they are saving it for given it's going to be super warm mid-week and lose even more coverage...when it won't be open anyways....

This aside had a great spring day today. Had a less advanced skier friend with me today so didn't do my normal non-stop Rumor laps as usual but had a great day nonetheless. Lower mountain great and surfy to start. Rumor and Lies excellent. Hullabaloo was actually my ROTD. Was perfect corn and launching off the headwall full speed was a treat. Fairview and Uncas a close second. But really everything skiied great. Took a lower mountain showcase lap at 3 and that was surprisingly good and not a slush fest.

Never made it to BR or the Bowl as my friend definitely wasn't up for the traverse in soft sticky snow.

Gondi went down at some point near 3 and took them a while to offload everyone. Never ran after that.

Back for tomorrow but ya know...no ski bowl because it's not supposed to rain until near 4 now...
Rain actually supposed to start around 730 pm now. I’m sure glad they closed the bowl today to protect that snow so it can all melt away before they would open it next Thursday or so.

USSA Masters Nationals start tomorrow. Good luck to the people participating-kind of glad I didn't sign up. I have a bunch of friends doing them though.
I think they are supposed to be on Twister, which is open today. I saw a couple of pallets of rock salt stashed in 1A on Friday, it might require a few more.
