Every poll has a loophole. I probably should have anticipated this one.

If you really like skiing way more than snowboarding it's legit. But if you like them the same or close I call BS.

I saw the loophole and jumped through just for S & Gs. But snowboarding pow is big fun and opens a lot more less steep terrain for even more fun when the really good steeps are tracked out.

I understand that finding the flaw is part of the fun, but agree with MC it sidesteps some of it too.

If you are young and you get a million and put it into the market, you could be massively rich by time you are 65. With "average" returns you might be able to retire at 50 or sooner. But you'd also go many years without skiing. When I was 25 I'd never skied at all, and would have taken that deal in a minute.

Any choice (or non-choice) is a risk. Who knows how long you will live, or ski, or how much money you will need. At any age, you never know when your last day of skiing could be.

My sister's father-in-law skied until 88, and only quit because his wife passed and they loved it together so much, he just couldn't bear it. He was a good skier even at that age.

I think about not being able to ski. Would living in the mountains be cruel, all that snow out the window? The difference is I also love nordic and think that could carry me. It's the feeling of snow that I love the most.

I also love the writing about it. I'm sure I'll get the eye rolls on this but I wouldn't give that up either.

I'll choose the skiing. Let the chips fall where they may.

Begrudgingly....but yeah, I’d give it up. In some ways it’s an easier choice now than it may have been years ago. Yes, the past 5 years have probably been the best 5 skiing years of my life. That said, I might only have a handful more years to chase the kind of adventure that has made those years as good as they’ve been.

That said, $1m tax free could be life altering.....and I’m sure I could find another hobby or two as a second rate stand in for the skiing.

Couldn't pay me all the money in the world, it wouldn't be worth it.

Probably would be easier to take the mil and run if I was 20 years older with deteriorating body condition.

With regard to skiing, it includes all skiing, alpine, nordic, bc, roller, whatever.
