Wish List Ski Areas

Whitewater, Shames, Castle Mt and Red Mt...

Europe (just everywhere in Europe). Revelstoke. Mount Bohemia. Limberlost, ON.

I always had Taos and later Silverton on my wish list, but I think I've aged out of that. I made all the others, so I have that going for me, which is nice.

Really? Aged out?

Two of my ski buddies who are going to Taos with me again are pushing 70 and not showing any signs of slowing down. In fact, the Taos Ski Weeks they've done in the last few years have clearly allowed them to use better technique and less energy to enjoy double-black terrain. That's really steep and long at Taos. Keeping up with Albuquerque Bill on challenging terrain is that much harder than seven years ago when I talked him into considering semi-private lessons with me at destination resorts like JH and Alta. I was starting to catch up before he started doing a Taos Ski Week annually. I'm pushing 65.

I met up with an Australian man at Telluride a few years ago, mostly just to say "hello" and listen to his stories at lunch or dinner with my crew. He was in his mid-70s. His solo ski tour that winter in the U.S. started with a week in SLC, then Telluride, followed by guided tours at Silverton. At Telluride he was hiking for turns in-bounds as much as possible. Quite a character!

I regret never having done Le Massif
