Wish List Ski Areas

Although I haven’t done enough research to specifically desire one ski area in particular there, Japan is probably at the top of the list for me. Not only do they get absolutely smothered in snow every season and have sick all mountain terrain, the cultural shock/experience would be a truly memborable experience. Has anyone ever skied at any resorts/ski areas there?

I skied Shiga Kogen in Nagano 15 years ago. Shiga has about 60 short slow lifts that surround a small town. There's not much steepness but it was cool to spend a whole week without ever skiing the same lift more than once or twice. The second morning we woke up to over 2 feet of light dry pow, and we skied fresh for the next 4 days. Japanese skiers don't leve the groomers, so the Americans and Kiwis had it all to ourselves. That was the most powder I ever skied. Plus, beer in vending machines and Japanese TV game shows are hysterical even if you don't know the language. If I were gonna go back I'd look at Sapporo or northern Japan for something a little steeper, but the best paet is still the whole Japan experience. It's definitely a different culture.

All in all, one of my best ski trips.

Anyway, I guess I'm looking for experiences. Breathtaking views, quirky lodges, and different terrains and snows.
What do you know of the locations on the Indy Pass? Definitely will find quirky lodges and different terrain.

So far it’s RA and Benny with Dolomites on the list.
Me too, me too.
Where do you dream of skiing one day and haven’t yet?

For me ,.... -Dolomite super ski or whatever it’s called. The worlds largest interconnected ski area. I want the whole experience of skiing village to village and drinking cool red wine and eating sausage (or whatever they eat there) for lunch like in Dick Barrymore’s ski movies.
Benny said Dolomites too.
Yup.
The Madonna di Compiglio to Pinzolo cruise looks nice.

This is a really cool video. The guy lives in Badia and operates a hotel that he publicizes with regular YouTube postings. This one is exotic. He made it last year when everything is shut down. He skinned up the Val Mezdi, a giant colour on the side of the grand Sella outcropping that dominates the Sella Ronda. His wife is fitter than him.

Check out some of his other videos. His two little boys just rip. What a life

Les Deux Alpes.
A Basin
Taos
Big Sky
Anywhere in South America during our summer
Mt. Brighton, MI for Aspen Extreme nostalgia
Tremblant

Thanks Uncle Benny

Ha, here's a video done on a "normal" day up in the Val Mezdi. There"s bump fields with Euro tourists to slalom through. Still looks like an amazing place. And a ton of territory. That one guy with no helmet and blue outfit did twenty turns, then twelve turns, and go a nice amount further on down, a few times, if they stayed high. I'm guessing staying high means survival, too. Might be some nasty holes in there.
It requires a traverse ski, skin or hike to get to the mouth of the Val Mezdi after a tram ride.
