The NC mountains were big winners in the last few days. Needless to say, anytime there is more than 2-3 inches, it makes big news. The cold front is also staying long enough for plenty of snowmaking hours.

" . . .
It has absolutely dumped snow in North Carolina’s high country today. Beech is the proud recipient of 14 inches. I repeat. FOURTEEN INCHES of snow at Beech Mountain. Sugar landed around 7 inches, and Beech is the recipient of 6 inches.

Lakes (Erie & Ontario) effects ❄️ band were narrow for The UpState and they’re still cranking ❄️.
The Tug Hill should be good sledding in places.
Copenhagen is up to 50” ❄️ now.

Experienced driving in lake effect snow in Michigan yesterday. Got advice from the locals I skied with at Caberfae to take the US highway close to the lake, not the one inland. It dumped in my destination, Petosky, all day. As soon as US31 wasn't right next to the lake north of Elk Rapids, visibility was an issue with blowing snow. It was frigid, so the road surface was packed snow so that wasn't a big deal.

Nub's Nob and the Highlands (formerly called Boyne Highlands) got plenty of fluffy powder out of the storm system. The 70 Plus Ski Club members who skied Nub's yesterday liked the powder but not the lack of visibility.
