Area Forecast Discussion

.LONG TERM /
SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
As of 309 AM EST Thursday...Generally quiet weather expected
for the start of the long term with high temperatures around to
just below average (30s) as ridging builds.
The next system of
note is forecast to arrive Monday. The GFS, which has been an
outlier with this storm as well, has begun shifting the location
of its coastal low towards the New England coast, more closely
resembling the setup of the ECMWF and Canadian models. There`s
still some spread, however, in what the models are predicting,
so we`ll need to monitor it for another couple runs before
really understanding the details, especially as
some of the
models show a double-barreled low developing. For now,
confidence is growing that at least 0.01 of an inch of precip is
expected, especially along the spine of the Greens, so
we have
60-80% PoPs highlighted Monday night and Tuesday with a mix of
rain and snow as highs continue to reach in the 30s. Conditions
are expected to dry out again by Thursday morning as ridging
likely builds back into the region.
