Winter Weather 21/22

With WF I have a general idea of what wind forecast numbers mean windholds. I never looked it that for Plattekill, and in my 12 years of skiing the mountain never experienced a windhold at Plattekill.

Who skied RILEY. Every other Cats area either lost power or was on hold. Plattekill went all day with both lifts.

Put it this way, if Plattekill is on windhold, so is everyone else.

Fixed grips baby.

So last decision point is "when is the snow going to fall"? 0z shows most of it falling before 4 PM sat, but going to wait until 12z to pull the trigger on a cheap room somewhere for Friday night.

Whatever the overall timing of snow ends up being on Saturday I think the drive up in the am has nightmare potential. We chose to head up tomorrow night. I don’t like slow, white knuckle drives! There’s a variety of available lodging, some expensive, some not….depending of your proclivities.

Just got back from a trip out west so I can't go for more then a day. If I go to Platty should I go Saturday or Sunday? I'm thinking Saturday, but worried about wind?
No windy at platty always stay open when others can't for wind holds in my opinion

That day was something else. People showing up from all over the tri-state and the other closed ski areas well into the afternoon, parking way down the access road

I believe that was the day after Riley. Nobody could get to Plattekill the day of the storm.

I stayed overnight with @marcski maybe 10 miles away, it took 45 mins to get there. And that was before it really got wound up.

12z looks like a day time storm, pulled the trigger on a room for Friday night.

BTW JTG - I was at Copper last Thurs/Fri, and Abay last Sat/Sun, seems like we overlapped. Sadly I missed the big snow that you got right after I left :(
