I'm supposed to fly to Colorado Thursday. You can book a big storm. Happens. Every. Time. Always messes up my flight out too and sometimes my flight back. Also always goes dry when I'm out there.
Maybe I'm spending too much time around here. I was supposed to fly out to ABQ for a Taos trip on Thursday. Spent most of the morning working out a way to fly on Wed, but it wasn't easy given that this weather forecast covers all the way down to Dallas. I avoided Denver on purpose but would've been okay going thru there. <sigh>

At least there is a big storm happening in Taos this week. Pretty low snow conditions so far this season.

Every run GFS says Cats while Euro says Daks. This is a real nail biter.

I need to know where to book a room!

after all that dribble , the dacks will be safe from any mixed

Right now the Hudson Valley up through Kingston is a wintry mix, with only a couple inches of snow on the back end. Is a little west of Kingston with a little elevation going to make that big a difference for Platty/Belle? At Wappingers/Beacom there isn’t even snow in the forecast anymore, just rain/freezing rain. Head for the ADKs. Maybe a few inches less, but still 10+ of all snow.

Sorry but there is usually a big difference in temps and precipitation between Kingston and the Mountains, maybe ten degrees at least and rain along the river snow in the Cats of course we have three long days to go and the way this winter has been that's a long long time for changes to forecasts, tell me about a minute before midnight on Thursday what Friday will. bring.

I realize the weather west of Kingston at elevation is usually much different than the weather down in the valley. However, you have to consider the particular weather system. No doubt the Cats will get snow on the back end, when/if Kingston stays mixed. However, as Jason always points out, warm air always wins. If there’s a warm nose/warm air aloft it’s hard for even the elevation to the west of Kingston to overcome that with this kind of system….

Why not fly into Sky Harbor, then over to Albuquerque? Taos is very high on my list for my next trip west.
