Windham Mountain Going Private?

I pay my school tax separate from my property tax now.

I don’t think that is uncommon.
I've seen it both ways. It's separate in my part of the Adk, not so in my part of NJ.

They do send you a letter explaining the breakout in NJ. I pay the same amount 4x/year.

But, I believe you pay school tax on undeveloped land too. To me, it would seem broken to raise the tax on undeveloped land and still continue to charge school tax on it.

Kinda? But lots of land in timber country isn’t really as valuable as, say, half an acre in a city.

But yes, I think it would hit the people in those towns out west that have 6 acres and an empty vacation house.
I think that depends on how you define value. It seems like a tax system that makes far more sense in an urban or more densely populated area when compared to rural ones. Is this to say that a 6 bedroom 4 bath mcmansion on a half acre would carry the same taxes as a two bedroom one bath ranch on a half acre next door?

Yup. In my community property taxes come on 2 bills. 1 is strictly for school and library tax. The second is for town and county. The school tax is about 3/4 of the total.

Folks in the Town of Morehouse in Hamilton County NY didn’t even have one kid enrolled in the whole town & folks still had to pay “school tax” in addition to their property tax. They get a lot of snow.

IBM leaving behind a former office or semi conductor facility sure does wonders for a sudden explosion in affordable housing.

I think IBM was at peak employment worldwide in 2013. I couldn't find any US or NY numbers.

They sure are less visible in my world.

20 years ago we used to say "Nobody gets fired for recommending IBM." Referring to computer purchases.

Look into Morris Chang if you have any interest in manufacturing, semiconductors, global supply chains, etc. Dude more or less was single handedly responsible for offshoring semiconductor manufacturing to Taiwan. All because the good ole boys at Texas Instruments couldn't embrace diversity in the workplace.
