Windham Conditions

Where does the base Windham's 1600' vertical drop start? I remember skiing there with my altimeter watch and I only got around 1350' vertical drop from the top to the base lift. There was no carpet lift that goes down to near the entrance so I don't know how it was calculated then. Was the entrance from the road considered the base elevation?

There are some beginner slopes with (IIRC) carpet lifts below the lodge. I still don't think that would give them an extra 250 ft. though. Here's the Trail Map

When I skied there, there weren't those lodges or lifts, those were just access roads to the lodge or parking lot. It was still claimed as 1600' back then.
Yeah, not sure how its possible to round up to the next next hundred feet.

The vertical of their main 6 pack lift is 1294 vertical feet. They gain some extra vertical because the top of East Peak is about 50 feet higher than the top of West Peak. The magic carpets on the Whisper Run trail are below the main lodge. Their actual vertical as calculated off Google Earth is 1450 feet with all of this considered. They've always exaggerated to 1600 even before they added Whisper Run because that's what Hunter advertises. Hunter's main lift is 1475 vertical. However, the Zephyr lift ends slightly higher than the main 6 pack. The base of the lifts in Hunter East are slightly below the base lodge too. I calculated 1520 vertical from the top of the highest lift to the bottom of the lowest.

I use my app and it’s not even 1300 elevation gain...I usually get like 1130

I use to mainly ski Windham and always assumed it was 1600 vert feet. Then later moved to hunter and got used to their terrain. When I did go back to windham once in a while, I always though the runs felt like it ended real quick. I assumed it was just the headwall and fall line trails that made the exciting part end real soon, and hunter's zig zag trails makes it seem like it was 3 or 4 trails per run. But later on, when I started using my altimeter watch for skiing, I realized I wasn't getting the above 1500 vert feet mark, which is usually when resorts round up the number up to the next hundred feet. I am being generous on Windham when I quote their vert feet since my Suunto watch had an increment of 20 ft or so, and I gave each resort the benefit of doubt by remembering the largest vert feet change during a lift ride. I remember windham's lift to be at most 1350 vert ft, while hunter to be 1535.

Before smartphones and ski apps, the only way for me to remember number of runs above 15 was to record a session on the watch, take the session's total vertical feet and divide it by the lift's vertical feet. If I take their published vertical feet, then my number of runs would be totally off. If using the vert feet that I noticed on the watch (most noticed high end range), it might cause the calculated number of runs to be roughly halfway between 2 numbers, especially if the run count is really high. I usually guess the higher range, which I guess I am right, since the actual vert feet is less than the optimistic vert feet. Also, if there was a drastic change in barometric pressure throughout the day, the total vert feet could be off even more.
