Whiteface Conditions

Best day of skiing I’ve had in a while.

Skiing an unexpected 6” under sun and blue skies on a Wednesday > work

What, you holding out a separate post for the Slides? You dog…
Well…you might find this mind boggling…but we headed out around noon and missed the whole thing…no shortage of good snow elsewhere…country club skiing…had things to attend to. Hoping for a storm skiing day tmrw…

I concur, what a great day!!!
Gotta go to know!😉⛷️

Soooo…..any reports from yesterday? Don’t like today’s conditions report regarding ‘fast and firm as a result of the bout with mixed precipitation’. How bad did that get, and at what elevations?

We skied until around mid day, it was snowing from mid up, was still really good skiing up top (little whiteface/lookout as summit wasn’t spinning), and it definitely mixed and was sleeting at the base…we were soaked after our run back to the lodge to change…so I would imagine the lower mountain is pretty locked up…by Sunday tho maybe overcome by the next storm…

Glad it stayed snow up high yesterday. Fingers crossed for the weekend, although it’s looking dicey. For the mountain proper it doesn’t really matter. A mix still builds base and the slopes will recover. A crusty mess would, however, likely set a promising Slides season back a bit…..

1 PM on Saturday... I have no idea if the weekend storm will be a winner or an over hyped bust, but it sure has not kept people from getting to the mountain. From the Webcams I could see Gore was busy. BUT WOW, Whiteface Bear Den area was the busiest I have seen it all season. Kind of glad I stayed home. Enjoy, stay safe.
