Whiteface Conditions

Some good options out there

tutu

anybody got conditions?

Ari here. I haven't skied there in a tutu yet, but Whiteface is my home mtn these days. Damn it's been a great season so far. Mixed feelings about blasting snow in spots like Hoyt's, but overall the ops have been super impressive this year. Cloudspin (pictured), stuff off Northway, and Lookout have been consistently awesome for weeks now!

Tomorrow should be fun, anyone else planning on Whiteface in the AM? Looking forward to poking around some 'glades'

Most everything except Mackenzie was great today. Best shape I've seen the mountain in for a long time. More snow tonight, next week, and next weekend on the way. Unless they want to avoid the shit show that having them open during a holiday would generate, they should be able to open the Slides during President's Day Week. I saw some skiers there today approaching from the toll road.

I didn't ski Hoyt's or Lookout Below today, they were both open though. I'm planning on hitting them tomorrow after a little more snow.

BennyMikes on Instagram skied the slides earlier this week I assume from the road and posted and they absolutely look ready. They consistently open next week and I'm tempted to burn a day or two of PTO to get after them.

Ski patrol mentioned avy danger today, but we're hopeful it would mitigate in the next week. Given that Thursday is a dry storm and next weekend looks like a wet one, I have my doubts.

The mountain was awesome today. Mountain Run was great off the bat. Then Empire had just enough tracks to be able to pick out the rocks. Cloudspin and Skyward were lovely too. Hoyt's was okay, I did it to just do it. Had patches that were great and some that were less than great. Mackenzie was better than yesterday but still not great until Lower. I think I skied Parkway upper and lower more than anything else. Lots of hero bumps. Very good quality snow on that side of the hill.

Glades on either side of Empire were solid as I imagine they were all over the mountain. Alas I'm old and ran out of gas. I'm hobbling around my house now.

Just a great day to be out.

Whiteface skied great this morning. Not a lot of people here today and many of them racers. Parkway Upper and Lower were closed to Joe Public for racers but ROTD was Skyward for sure. Just outstanding. Knee deep wind blown powder on the sides and fresh corduroy in the middle. Cloudspin was great on the bottom half. Top was windblown and demanding. This will be a good week for some sick days...

A group of 10 of us hit WF this past Sat, Sun. Best conditions I ever encountered in my limited ski days at the Face. Encountered the deepest softest cord I ever skied.
Skied Hoyt’s for the first time in years. Everything was in play our crew was everywhere.
Took a look at Bear Den for the first time. Rode the Notch lift.
One on our crew, first run Skyward, third run overall got a little over zealous slid 200 ft on Skyward and was done for the weekend. Torn MCL.
Sun came out Sat and Sun our newbie WF visitors enjoyed the views.
