The Slides are worth the extra hour each way, if you ask me. Of course, who knows if we’ll ever see the Slides open again….

If it helps I have skied side country at Copper that you take a cat to and then hike 20-45 min before dropping in.

You can ski it. Just do it

I will just add that Whiteface with EVERYTHING in play, meaning the Slides…..that beats Gore, easy.

This is true as long as you are an advanced skier.

Hey! Haven't been in there, believe myself more than capable if someone is willing to take a rookie in. I have a probe, shovel, and beacon. What else do you need to go in? Would like to not go solo my first time. Maybe when I am heading up and if I am solo I will shout it out to the group and see if any kind takers : )

Don't tell the WF staff/ski patrol that you're a rookie.

I think back in 2015/2016, me and my buddy tried getting into the slides. After waiting a little bit at the top, we were next to go in, and one of the hosts asked if we knew what to expect(i.e. the side stepping hike), and we were like, "no, what should we expect". The guy immediately told us to scram. What a dick. Apparently, no rookies in the slides according to that guy(it was a Gold level day).

We went back the following year(i don't remember the year), and we finally made it in. The entrance/hike in is a piece of cake and the skiing was excellent.

Wish I got a name. I have no idea haha. One of the guys I was with was a former instructor at WF too. Apparently he didn't think that qualified to be able to enter the slides either.

I am heading up to Whiteface to ski Fri-Mon. I am excited to have better conditions than we had over Xmas & NYE. Hopefully I will get to take some runs on Skyward for the first time this year. It was too icy and/or too foggy for me last time.

I have never experienced problematic lines at Whiteface. It’s not a holiday weekend. I would not stress. Lines will be 15 minutes max I predict. If the Gondola line is long, go elsewhere.
