What is your favorite ski area close to ALB?

Gore, especially if you like trees and skating. Hunter and Windham are about the same drive time as Gore on a weekend, but you need to drive through Albany to the Catskills, and week day morning traffic has returned to the PITA level. All the Vermont areas are further from Saratoga Springs than Gore too.

If you're in Saratoga whiteface is within an hour and a half and that is the best skiing in the east everything being equal

I'm strictly a mid-week half-day skier who can do my job anywhere living just south of Saratoga and willing to drive about 1.5 hours each way. Much appreciated!

Gore and Oak are the only 2 I’ve skied. Both are favorites.
Ya can’t split yer ticket so I didn’t officially vote.
Give em both an extra 0.5 if ya want.

i voted for gore, it was difficult, like which is your favorite child. some of you have heard me refer to the ski triangle. within an 1.5 hours i can be at gore, plattekill or magic. it usually boils down to conditions. but all things being equal, it is a very difficult choice. they all rock.

Whiteface is 45 minutes past Gore, as is Killington That’s a lot for a half day. We don’t drive past Gore very often. plattekill 2 hours from Saratoga Springs.

The best? I never thought that but I've never skied there. I always drove up to MRG if I wanted really good natural snow skiing out east.
