Things skiers do but shouldn't.

Yeah. And bananas and dragons. Really. You're a teenager. You're not going to attract girls that way

No need, a just about anything is on topic in a thread like this. Like I said, I’m also not trying to be a pain in the azz. While all skiing involves slippery slopes, the slope you ventured into is super slippery. In the end, I think you need to be able to rely on The Code, and not do anything stupid. However, what to you is “unexpected and sudden” is just other skiers, with right of way, doing their thing and having fun, under control, within the construct of the ‘rules’ in place.

I guess it’s a little sensitive for me, as we have a new skier in the family, my adult son’s girlfriend. She probably makes as many “unexpected and sudden” movements as your problem racers. Are beginner to low intermediate (who are finding their feet on new blue squares) skiers now supposed to be looking over their shoulder also? Where do you draw the line about downhill skier movement vs. relying on The Code?
I’m a slow line fast type of skier. I take up a lot of real estate. I’m conscience of this. Before I set off I make sure the uphill coast is clear as far as I can see. It’s very clear to anyone uphill of me what I’m doing. I get yelled at from time to time by people who’s line I turn into. I’m fairly certain they believe it’s on me to keep track of their uphill progress.

There’s ripper dude who constantly race carves down a <10 yd wide slot on the groom next to the Bali Hi lift at Song.
He takes up no room at all and zips right along. Groundhog Day runs, run after run after run after run ... Makes it look easy.
He might take up a total of 1-2 acres of land top to bottom but I haven’t done the maths.
If ya ever see him on a different trail it’s like spotting something out of the ordinary.

That sounds about right for me real estate wise but that’s a lot relative to a typical fall line skier.
