The Whole SKI3 Frequent Skier Card Thing

My FSC experience hasn’t been great but I’m feeling ok about it now after I was able to grab 12/31 last Tue afternoon when they opened it up.

Buying the cards themselves was a disaster - couldn’t reload last years cards online in November - Cindy at Gore had to do it for me. Didnt work for my free day at WF - they buzzed me through manually all day. At the end I went in and they gave me a new card, said ‘you probably will get another free day’ and shrugged. So I got another free day at Gore. Then I loaded 12/21 & 23 on my card quickly when it became clear holidays were being blacked out. RFID didn’t work all day 12/21- they said the whole system was having issues. On 12/22 I bought 12/31 on my card online but my sons wouldn’t work - I emailed Cindy and god bless her she emailed back late at night and assured me my son would get 12/31 as well. On 12/23 my son skied with me me and his free day didn’t work and neither did my card so we were both being buzzed through manually. Spent 30 min with Cindy at lunch and she straightened us out with new cards (again) and we both have 12/31 loaded.

Don’t know who the ticketing vendor is but they owe Cindy a big New Years gift - the technology is clearly a huge headache to say the least.

but given the weather I will probably ski as much as I would have over this period anyway - maybe one day less. And we will probably grab a night at West for fun...

It's not 100% germane to the topic but I tried getting a 1-day lift ticket anytime over the next week at Belleayre, Hunter, Gore, Windham, Platty, Catamount, and Butternut. Nothing's available anywhere.

That's pretty common this week in all regions, including New England, the mid-Atlantic and southeast. At least thru Wed.

Given the usual lift line complaints during the last week of the year, no surprise that supply outstrips demand with capacity limits in place.

killington has tickets available every day through January with online discount, I have not looked into other Vermont places but as long as you stay away from the places that out sold themselves with mega passes I think you should find some, Timberline WV another good example of a place to ski without crowds from mega passes like Snowshoe

Gore seems to have quietly opened up FSC availability for tomorrow and Sunday as well as following weekend. Don’t take them all - I have two 15 year olds we have to talk to when they wake up!

That's a shitty thing to post without more info.
There has been some pushback to the original comment.

But I'm still not sure if TJ is referring to ORDA or the State.
