The Simple Life

I just back from a 2-1/2 week road trip to the grand canyon. After 3 days back at work and home I'm ready to hit the road again...

I did 17 days in the Pharoah Lake Wilderness in 1996. Hiking, camping, fishing, paddling and bushwacking with my GF at the time. It was a logistical challenge, but awesome. I lost nearly 20 lbs and was in best shape of my life. Also caught my biggest trout ever. Never forget it.

a) is that the only thing you caught?
b) was it really the biggest or just seemed like it was?
c) I need to do this. I need to get a belt notch back.

We certainly didn't live on fish, mostly freeze dried. It was just SO MUCH EXERCISE.

I caught a few fish, but that was by far the biggest. Most were 12" or so. When I hooked him/her it was almost dark and at first I thought I had a log. I landed it without a net and it was as big as my arm from elbow to finger tip. Later I measured my arm and got 17 inches. I think it might have been 3 pounds of actual meat.

It was dark and we were still a mile from camp. I wanted to throw it back. We were hungry that whole trip, and my GF was like "if you throw that back I'll never speak to you again and no sex the rest of this trip!" Funny... so we would still do it after the trip without any talking? Hmmmm.... <Sorry if TMI

I was carrying a lot and she had just a butt bag. So I said if you carry it back to camp I will cook it up. I whacked him in the head with a rock and them found a forked stick for her to carry it. I admit it was good and worth the effort.

I’d be bringing a trout home everyday:ROFLMAO:

You are a better fisherman than I. I learned how to troll that trip, but that big fish I caught from the shore of a tiny pond that had only one spot to fish from. You'd think that spot would be all fished out.
