Sugarbush Conditions

Maybe it's because I went into the weekend with low expectations, but Saturday morning Sugarbush was pretty good. Sugar snow, edgeable and not much ice on blues. But the wind Saturday really took its toll and blew some areas down to ice by early afternoon.

Probably good spring conditions this week. If I lived closer I'd probably go again.

Friday at Mt. Ellen was great in the morning if you stayed on the groomers, they stayed nice and grippy all day as the clouds and wind moved in. Enough to close the lifts a little early around 3 but we had had it by then anyway. Finished the day with a stop at Lawson's and American Flatbread,

Saturday put the sugar in Sugarbush, we ski'd Lincoln Peak as well. Ungroomed trails looked enticing but had you quickly looking to exit back on to the groomers. Mrs SnoBunSki thought the conditions were better than Friday but the flat light and another day of groomers left me somewhat uninspired so we headed back to Lawson's again, we probably crossed paths @Andy_ROC. Dinner at Mad Taco, love the eats and drink in the Mad River Valley!

Sunday we we stopped and ski'd Pico on the way home for more of the same, capping off a nice weekend of getting your carve on some firm cord, great food, company and beers!
Probably good spring conditions this week. If I lived closer I'd probably go again.
Yea all those bumps should be good this week...

We got to Sugarbush around 1pm. Temp was around 30f and there was in and out sun and mostly clouds. The sun dipped behind the mountain in most spots after 2pm. Conditions would be described as an ice rink with some loose granular with flat light.

Heavens Gate Quad over Ripcord

Still, midweek with a few 100 sliders spread over the trails still classifies as a great day.

Today was warm and cloudy here at Sugarbush. The trails softened up quite nicely and conditions were way better than yesterday's ice rink. Temps were in the high 30s at the base. It started snowing at the top around 3pm but it started raining about halfway down.

Run of the day was Organgrinder

Currently, at 1130pm it is raining at the base. It has been raining since 3 or so.
Yuk.

It snowed about 4 to 7 inches of heavy powder. Fresh tracks all over the place. Skiing off the Heavens Gate Quad was awesome. The lower mountain was mashed potatoes. It has been lightly drizzling since about 10am. The top is fogged in.

We got lucky again with a great day.

After lunch it started to lightly snow again. Castlerock was the choice and we looped it a few times. It was all bumps all the time.

It was great.
The snow vastly improved the conditions.

Temps already dropped into the 20s on my last run and the lower mountain was setting up. The grooming tonight should make tomorrow another great day.
