I dont know if Matt is on here or not, I would hope he is. Personally I am tired of him asking for money for what he does, he started a public Facebook group and now he is overwhelmed with the amount of work it is to maintain, I dont get how money fixes this. Quit your day job if the Facebook group is your passion. I know a lot of people find it useful (I don't, I Ski 4 different mountains and know how to read a map), but it would be such a better page if he trimmed the fat, just stick to the weather 3 or 4 days out, stop with the were looking a storm 10 days out and the dogs running down the race course posts. I would say this to Matt, but he kicked me out a while back so I get screen shots of his posts.

[stuff about a Facebook page]
I could not care less about Skiology. The posts go by on my (increasingly rare) faceboook scroll sessions & they just blend in to everything else.

I am never going to pay for a ski site. If he wants to ask for money, fine. If the asks start to bother me, I’ll unfollow (but I don’t think I look at Facebook enough to notice)

yeah, I’m not paying for access to ski info either. I think it’s very hard to monetize social media stuff. A web site can collect ad revenue but that’s not gonna be enough to support yourself most of the time. STE at least came up with a clothing line to sell when the ski movie business changed.

I pay the annual subscription fee for two ski info sources that aren't an online ski forum: OpenSnow and Storm Skiing Journal. Very different level of content than any FB group would ever have. While I have a FB account, I can't stand the interface and don't look at it much.

I also contribute voluntarily to a couple ski forums (< $30 a year) because I can afford it and I value what the owner/founder has done to build a community. Server fees and software licensing is not cheap. No amount of advertising can cover those fixed costs.

Stu is doing a great job and I listen to his podcast at times but it’s not something I value enough to pay for. I’m not optimistic that he’s gonna sign up enough subscribers

Lol, I thought for the longest time that you were Skiology Matt until someone recently enlightened me. It was half the reason I was busting your balls around here. I sincerely apologize for that half.

I’m not on FB and I doubt I ever will be. I have looked up Julie’s posts though, they are always great. I really wish she had more of a presence on NYSB.
