Ski Waxing

Skis on display, surrounded by green grass.....no offence, but do your neighbors think you're wacky?
As you might per able to tell, we have a very large lot. It's a carry over from when a 100 acre farm was subdivided into 13 lots in 1982, all heavily wooded, 6-10 acres. The house/lot my husband bought before I met him is 6 acres with a pond. I married him and moved in 25+ years ago. Back then the road near the neighborhood was a dirt road. There were only 10 houses. Now we are surrounded by a standard high end subdivisions with 3 or 4 big houses per acre. Our neighbors are generally relatively new to the region who just drive by and don't notice much. Even when they walk by on the sidewalk that's on the other side of the street, they don't really notice when I'm doing yard work along our side of the street.

Our lot slopes down quite a bit from the street. I doubt any of the neighbors have ever noticed the few times I had skis in the driveway since I did it midweek. Not sure how many would know that they were skis. Definitely not on the day when there was snow on the ground. In central NC that means everyone hunkers down in their house until the snow melts. ;-)

I am actually going to ride a chair on Monday so thought it would be a good idea to wax my skis. It occurred to me that I have been using this iron for this purpose since I was a teenager. I’m 65 now and it was old then. Collectors of vintage household stuff would be appalled.

SBR, Yer cord does looks pretty old.
Hope ya waxed em before ya sharpened the metal edge yer cord is touchin.

a) Donate it to a museum.
b) Sell it to a collector.
c) Replace the cord with a new one
d) Unplug and/or Cut the cord, & just heat heat old Brock Snyder on top of the woodstove whenever ya wanna use it for waxing. (easiest)

Appreciate the concern but it is quite reliable. I did replace the wall end plug recently. Doing the whole cord would be easy, may look into that.

On the other hand, the cord is so well impregnated with wax, it must have extra insulating properties.
