Ski Lift FAIL at Song Mtn Yesterday !

I'm not so sure about the cash refund. Should a ski area return money to someone who gets hurt? There comes a time when a biz decision needs to be made. Especially when inherent risks are involved. That said, I guess each case should be handled on an individual basis.
An injury is typically caused by the skier themselves and/or a third party which the ski area management had no control, so no refund is warranted. The lift breaking down is 100% the ski area managements responsibility. When customers are left dangling from a chair for an extended period of time the customers are not getting the service delivered to them that they paid for. I see no reason to push back on a cash refund for out of towners--- that's what good business do when they fail to deliver, regardless of cause.

But yes I agree a case by case basis is an acceptable way to handle. It answers my question as it seems there's no standard policy.

There’s no little carport-like shed when ya get on the double riblet that folks were evacuated from.
Google maps street view.
Lab has little carport-like sheds when ya load the triple and Badger lifts.
It’s been awhile since I rode the Ptarmy lift but it didn’t used to have a roof over it either.

Oh, they do, just not about skiing generally. If you're on FB, check out this group of crazies...Moving Saratoga Forward.
Looks like it’s mostly bitching about Albany politics.
Skinny’s more of an environmental finger lakes type of bitchin, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Keep in mind all these ski areas are on the oldish side. None of them are owned by Vail or NYS so the blank checkbook theory does not apply. That said, new lifts break down as well.
The 1971 riblet double was the one that was evacuated Sunday afternoon..
First ride up the triple this morning a patroller was on the chair in front of me.
I asked him about it.
No motor problem.
It sounded to me like a chair swung and caused the problem near the first tower.
The lady who was talking with him mentioned most folks look to the outside when getting on a lift but with the pole in the middle makes it trickier to load, especially for newbies. She was on it toward the bottom in the tree line out of the wind when it stopped.
It was spinning fine today.
@Brownski rode it like a pro when it was nuking Feb 20, 2021.
